Application

Flange leak sealing

For bolted flanges, bonnets, blind flanges and equipment such as pumps, turbines and compressors.

The flange is sealed by injection-moulding a secondary joint around the failed primary gasket, enclosing the flange's outside diameter and forming a mechanical seal.

Methods used

  • Containment ring (clamp) — insertion and peripheral
  • Insert wire
  • Wire wrap
  • Drill & tap

Wire wrap

No caulking or drilling of the flange faces is required. A fitted wire retains the injected compound until the gap is fully sealed.

Gap between faces ≤ 3/8" · 650 psig · 343 °C · OD ≤ 30"
Stud and nut condition is assessed before starting. For high-pressure, high-severity leaks a full line-to-line enclosure is preferred. Re-injections are normally limited to four.
